Sport activities play a key role in
keeping fit while having enjoyment. Most sport activities practiced by
Air Cadets are team sports to promote team spirit. Teams to represent
Wings are selected at trials
from cadets attending from units within the Wing. Wing teams compete
at the Regional Championships to represent their Region at the Corps
finals.

ATHLETICS |
Atheletic competitions are held each year
in track and field events. Track events include 100, 200, 800 and 1500
metres. Additionally there is also a 4 x 100 metre event. Field events
include long and high jump, shot, discuss and javelin.

FOOTBALL & rugby |
Football is played by male cadets and is
divided into two age groups, Senior and Junior. The game is played to
the Football Association rules. Cadets selected for the Wing team play
at the Regional Championships. Cadets who are selected for the
Regional team then play at the Corps finals.

hOCKEY & NETBALL |
Female cadets are able to participate in
hockey and netball. The games are played in accordance with the
relevant association rules. Cadets can attend Wing trials held each
year, those selected for the Wing team play at the Regional
Championships. Cadets who are selected for the Regional team then play
at the Corps finals. |

SWIMMING |
Cadets can develop their swimming skills
by attending the regular swimming sessions held at HMS Drake. While
attending these sessions they are able to gain their ATC and RAF
swimming proficiencies.
Like other sports conducted by the
Corps swimming trials are held at Wing level with cadets attending to
represent their Squadron. Those who are top in their events are chosen
to represent the Wing in the Regional Trials. The winning cadets from
these trials then represent the Region in the Corps finals. |
